High- and medium-resolution ultraviolet spectra from the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS) and the Goddard High Resolution Spectrograph (GHRS) were used to search for unidentified diffuse absorption profiles between 1200 and 1500 angstroms. Several reddened stars with high rotational velocities were chosen so that interstellar lines could be distinguished from stellar features. All possible atomic and molecular features were identified, and the significance of unidentified features was determined through Gaussian fits to the data and the persistence of the feature in multiple observations and/or sightlines. Where possible, individual exposures were examined to rule out features created by fixed pattern noise. The diatomic molecule CS was detected at 1400.8 angstroms and was modeled to verify profile shape. CS column densities were compared with models for diffuse clouds.
