The u'g'r'i'z' standard star network (Smith et al. 2002) was developed to support calibration of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS). There were some limitations in the original system due to tailoring the network to support the survey goals. These limitations were primarily the standardization of bright stars for use with the 0.5m Photometric Telescope and the lack of red stars.
We present efforts to develop an extension to the original system to correct some of these limitations and expand the network to include fainter and redder stars. This extension is based on data from the original USNO-1m observations (1998-2000) supplemented with a second campaign (2005-2006) on the same telescope. We present the latest results for the transformation equations between the u'g'r'i'z' system (the standard stars) and the ugriz system (the SDSS survey camera).
The authors acknowledge partial support for this project from the NSF grant AST 00-98401.
