We study the role of MHD turbulence driven by the magneto-rotational instability (MRI) in nonthermal electron heating and the state transitions of magnetized accreton flows onto black holes. Using a combination of MHD, Fokker-Planck and Monte Carlo simulations, we study the spectral and temporal properties of the radiation output, and their dependence on the disk input parameters.
