We present updates to ongoing studies of recent supernovae that show signatures of shock interaction with very dense circumstellar material ejected shortly before the supernova in what appears to be an LBV-type eruption. The data include photometric light curves from KAIT, as well as visual-wavelength spectra from Keck and Lick Observatories. We will focus on spectroscopic results for two of the three most luminous supernovae ever seen, SN2006gy and 2006tf, both of which are Type IIn. We will also discuss SN2006jc, which was unique in being the first documented case of dust formation in the post-shock gas of any supernova. Late-time spectra and photometry of these objects reveal some critical clues to their mysterious nature, with some quite surprising implications.
