We present the results of a 4-square degree photometric search for young brown dwarfs with disks in ρ Ophiuchus, one of the nearest regions of active star-formation. This is currently the widest search for young brown dwarfs in ρ Oph. A complete census of brown dwarfs of a star-forming region is important for the study of the initial mass function and theories of star formation. Using archived CFH12K images from CFHT, the 2MASS and 2MASS6X point source catalogs, and the Spitzer legacy Cores to Disks catalog, we built a catalog of 15,000 objects detected in I, J, H, Ks, and 3.6, 4.5, 5.8, and 8.0 μm bands. Using the locus of previously discovered low-extinction young brown dwarfs in J-H vs. K, we estimated extinctions for objects in our catalog. Using the dereddened magnitudes, we then identified objects that appear late M-type (corresponding to .2 Ms and lower objects at 1 Myr) in I-J vs. K color-magnitude space. Keeping in mind that foreground M-type stars, reddened background stars, and background galaxies can appear M-type like in a single color-magnitude diagram, we then used mid-IR colors to select objects with mid-infrared excesses, a signature of disks, which are themselves an indicator of youth. From this survey, we recovered 17 known young brown dwarfs and young low-mass stars. We also identified 3 new candidate young brown dwarfs with disks in the core region of ρ Oph, and 10 outside the core. These objects more than double the number of ρ Oph member young brown dwarf candidates outside the core of ρ Oph.
