IRAS 17495-2534 has been variously described as a red oxygen-rich AGB star, a "fossil" symbiotic nova and an OH/IR color mimic. Its mid-infrared spectrum resembles that of an OH/IR star, but no OH maser emission has been detected. In addition, the mid-infrared spectrum shows evidence for crystalline silicates. Since this source is in the direction towards the Galactic Center, it is possible that the silicate strong absorption feature is due to interstellar dust. The nature of this source is investigated and the implications of the crystalline silicate features are discussed.
