Most of stars, including all massive stars, form in clustered star formation. But how massive star formation proceeds from GMC cores to star clusters remains unknown. Whether the formation goes through fragmentation of the cloud to individual stars or through overall collapse of the cloud to form all massive stars at the center is unclear. Convincing observational evidence of infall in massive star-forming regions is extremely rare. We have begun a project to study infall on the cluster forming scale with the SMA, using a sample of massive cores that are good infall candidates revealed by single-dish telescope observation. Using the powerful molecular infall tracers of massive cores HCN 3-2 and HCO+ 3-2, combined with other tracers in the same SMA band, we will be able to study the density structure and kinematics within the whole infalling envelope, and confirm infall in individual cores. The poster reports the early results of this study.
