Low-resolution spectra from 3000-9000 A of young low-mass stars and brown dwarfs were obtained with LRIS on Keck I. The weak photospheric emission from M-dwarfs at $<4000$ Å leads to a higher contrast in the ratio of accretion-to-photospheric emission when compared with higher-mass counterparts. The excess UV and optical emission that arises from the Balmer and Paschen continua yields mass accretion rates that range from 10 -12 to 10-8 $M_\odot$ yr-1. We compare our results to accretion rates measured from H$\alpha$ modelling and provide empirical relationships between line luminosity and accretion continuum luminosity. Our results combined with previous accretion rate measurements suggest that $\dot{M}\propto M1.9 for accretors in the Taurus Molecular Cloud.
