We compute the effects that nonlinear structure formation has on the baryon acoustic oscillations imprinted on the power spectrum through large N-body simulations. Effects on both the matter power spectrum and a biased galaxy population over a range of redshifts are determined. We find that nonlinear effects shift the acoustic scale imprinted in the power spectrum by a small but potentially measurable amount. A large-scale, deep galaxy survey may provide a unique and powerful probe of the acoustic scale, and thus also can deliver insight into the nature of dark energy.
