The authors report VLBI observations at 6 cm wavelength of 10 galaxies with broad nuclear emission lines and of a further three with only narrow lines. The linear resolution corresponding to half a fringe-spacing and the rms noise in fringe-amplitude are respectively 0.1 and 0.005 pc Mpc-1 and 5 and 8 mJy on the European and transatlantic baselines. Ten objects were detected on the shorter and five on the longer baseline. In particular, radio emission on the parsec scale is seen for the first time in the Seyfert 1 galaxies NGC 4151 and Mk 231. For completeness, a list is included of all broad-line galaxies known by the authors to have been observed with VLBI at cm-wavelengths.
