The thickness of the snow layer in the Martian polar caps is calculated, and it is shown that variations of the snow mass are accompanied by seasonal variations of atmospheric pressure. The pattern of air-mass motion caused by condensation and evaporation of polar-cap snow is obtained by solving the primitive meteorological equations. The theoretical results agree well with Viking data on Martian atmospheric pressure.
