The rather limited data base which is so far available suggests that the H II region diameter function (at least at large diameters) is the same in all galaxies which have been studied. With only one or two possible exceptions, the large-diameter side of the integral-frequency distribution of H II region in galaxies studied in the considered investigation is found to be well represented by one relation which provides the number of emission regions with a diameter larger than D. Examples of the fit of the presented relation to the data for the Galaxy, the LMC, NGC 1566, and NGC 5128 are shown in a number of graphs. The possible universality of the given relation is hinted at by the fact that it fits supergiant spirals, dwarf irregulars, and even highly peculiar objects such as NGC 5128.
