The current status of the principal developmental trends of the theory of unsteady radiation transfer is reviewed. Much data however, is obtained for neutrons. Particular attention is given to results obtained by analytical methods. The principal topics discussed are monochromatic unsteady scattering of light in one- and three-dimensional media, and resonance scattering; nonlinear problems associated with inhomogeneous unsteady-state media; and the application of the theoretical results to astrophysics and geophysics.
