Some UHE cosmic ray (CR) events may be correlated with the supergalactic plane. Following Kang et al. (ApJ, 456, 422, 1996) we consider the large scale flow of matter towards such plane forming shock waves on its both sides. These shocks are expected to allow for the CR diffusive acceleration leading to particle energies in excess of 1019 eV. For a simplified flow geometry we consider a steady-state solution of the CR kinetic equation and we discuss the influence of model parameters on the spectral index of accelerated particles. It is demonstrated that this index varies depending not only on the compressions in the shocks, but also on a number of spatial scales present in the model and on diffusive properties of the medium. This fact should be taken into account when modelling the UHE CR spectrum .
