We present a general parameter study of photohadronic interactions of relativistic protons in thermal and power law photon fields using our newly developed Monte-Carlo event generator SOPHIA (see accompanying poster paper at this conference). We discuss applications to astrophysical problems like hadronic gamma ray and neutrino production in blazars and gamma ray bursts, as well as energy losses of ultra high energy cosmic rays in the cosmic microwave background.
