In this talk I will describe the Brazilian plan for astrophysical satellite missions, with special attention to MIRAX (Monitor e Imageador de Raios X), the first Brazilian astronomical space mission. MIRAX is a wide-field (60 x 60 degrees), high energy resolution (5 arcmin) hard X-ray (5-200 keV) imager that will provide an unprecedented coverage of the Discovery Space for transient and bursting X-ray sources.
