New Monte Carlo simulations of the amount of volcanic activity following the latest global resurfacing event have been conducted using the impact cratering record. These simulations also determine the time to end the global resurfacing event. The amount of post-global resurfacing volcanic activity and the time required to terminate the global resurfacing event are dependent on the number of volcanically embayed impact craters and the number of these craters embayed by the terminal end of the global resurfacing event. The total number of embayed craters is about 50 and it has been estimated based on stratigraphic considerations that about 10 craters have been embayed by the terminal end of the global resurfacing event. The simulations take into account the crater, ejecta deposits and outflows, and parabolic features surrounding some craters. Various percentages of splotches were used depending on the retention rate of these features. The simulations probably represent maximum estimates because the amount of post-global resurfacing in the simulations depends on the size of the crater and associated deposits, and many of the craters post-date very large single eruption plains units that have not been affected by later volcanism. The simulations indicate that between 6 and 11 percent of the surface has been resurfaced since the end of the global resurfacing event, and that the time to terminate the global resurfacing event was between about 60 and 100 million years.
