Spectra of Pluto were obtained at eight rotational phases with the FOS on HST during the 1992 and 1993 post-opposition quadratures. These were taken to study Pluto's UV light curve and atmospheric haze content, and spanned 1600-4800 Angstroms at resolution at 1.45-3.07 Angstroms/diode. During the 1993 observations, exploratory UV spectra of Charon were also obtained on opposite faces near elongation. These covered 2250-3300 Angstroms at resolution 2.09 Angstroms/diode. On Nov 9, 1993 and Feb 2, 1995, we obtained FOS spectra of Pluto near elongation spanning 1200-2300 Angstroms to survey the far-UV spectrum and search for emission lines from CO and other species (1.0-1.45 Angstroms/diode). We present Pluto's near-UV light curve, averaged over 7 wavelength bands and set an upper limit of 0.26 on the vertical visual optical depth of any atmospheric haze. We also present the first UV spectrum of Charon and compare the geometric albedo spectrum of opposite faces, which show little difference. We set upper limits on the column abundances of various candidate gases, including CO, OH, and NO; and compare Pluto's and Charon's near-UV spectra with each other and with the UV spectrum of Triton.
