An harmonic analysis of the Hα velocity field of the galaxy NGC 4298 in the Virgo cluster of galaxies is presented. It reveals the presence of significant m=2 terms, which may be attributed to a kinematical lopsidedness. The harmonic analysis is useful in detecting asymmetries of a Hα velocity field, which in turn helps to understand the effects that a dense environment like the Virgo cluster can have on a galactic disc.
