In the framework of the PNG session dedicated to the Galaxy, I first review the major studies undertaken since two or three decades to confirm the presence of a black hole at the Galactic Centre. I then introduce two paradoxes found from this quest: the paradox of dimness and the paradox of youth. I eventually present three future challenging instruments that should impact much the next GC studies: mm-VLBI, VLTI-Gravity and ELTs.
