While some of the planetary nebulae or H II region emission features having wavelengths longer than 2 microns may be gaseous emission lines, many are found to be too broad to be due to single atoms and are attributed to dust grain emission in or near the ionized gas. It is found that the 3.28-micron feature formerly reported observed in not only H II regions and planetary nebulae but the 3C273 quasar, the NGC 4151 Seyfert galaxy, together with M 82, NGC 253, NGC 2903, NGC 5195 and NGC 6946, is present in neither NGC 4151 nor 3C273. The feature is clearly observed in the nuclear region of the late-type galaxy M 83.
