Agreement with the observed properties of AM Herculis type systems is found in the results of calculations of the intensity and polarization of cyclotron radiation from constant temperature magnetic accretion columns. The linear polarization pulse is primarily due to Faraday mixing and is characteristic of cyclotron radiation of harmonic number higher than five. A direct measure of the angle between the line of sight and the rotation axis of the magnetic white dwarf, for the case of a synchronous orbit, is obtained by means of the rate of change of the linear polarization position angle. The temperature and thickness of the emission region determine the variety of slopes of the predicted continuum energy distributions due to cyclotron radiation.
