The 2.6-m telescope of the Byurakan Observatory was used to obtain two spectrograms of the filamentary structure of the galaxy M 82. It is confirmed that in the southern part of the galaxy the spectral lines exhibit Doppler ellipses. However, in the northern part a Doppler splitting is not found. It is assumed that in the southern part of the galaxy a local explosion of high power occurred, this resulting in the formation of a huge expanding dust shell. The optical polarization of M 82 is due to scattering of the light of the bright central regions of the galaxy by this cloud.
