It is shown how data on the emission measure (EM) of solar UV lines can be used to gather information on the structure and heating processes of solar coronal loops, where the most important feature that must be incorporated is the presence of a minimum of the EM as a function of temperature. By doing this, and observing the requirement that the values of the observable parameters remain in the proper range, it is possible to strictly limit the value of the temperature exponent in the heating function. The loop models proposed present strong variations of the conductive fluxes, and exhibit a marked increase in the region where heating and radiation balance.
