Observed characteristics of outbursts of eight dwarf novae are compared with those predicted for Type A and Type B outbursts by the disk instability theory. The three ultrashort-period systems (OY Car, VW Hyi, and WX Hyi) are identified as Type A, while the three Z Cam systems (RX And, AH Her, and CN Ori) are identified as Type B. Though the mean accretion rates of the Z Cam systems are just below the critical level for the dwarf nova instability, the true accretion rates during the dwarf nova phase are lower than the mean rates, and are low enough to produce Type B.
