Photometry with Schmidt plates poses quite a few problems. Most often the number of photoelectric standards with which calibration is done is small, and these are localized in a small area of the plate. They are therefore insufficient to yield good photometry over the whole plate. This paper considers the various problems in calibrating Schmidt plates and their treatment. It is found that the major effects arise due to the instrument and filters, and are constant for a certain emulsion and filter combination. A set of coefficients is given which should make it possible to do photometry with a good precision over the whole plate even when the number of photoelectric standards is small. The set of coefficients is valid only for the Schmidt telescope of CERGA and the emulsion and filters mentioned in the paper.
