Four new white dwarfs showing metallic absorption features are analyzed using optical spectrophotometry, and compared with the previously known stars Ross 640 and vMa 2. The temperatures range from ≡12,000K for PG 2322+119 to 6000K for G 157-35. PG 1225-079 has a detected hydrogen and other abundances quite similar to Ross 640, and is some 900K hotter. GD 95 is a similar object at 8000K. The results suggest first of all that traces of hydrogen are prevalent among DZ stars with Teff < 12,000K and that an empirical lower temperature boundary at Teff = 11,000±1000K exists for the mechanism which inhibits the accretion of hydrogen. Secondly, there appear to be large variations in the Mg/Ca ratio, from star to star.
