The following mechanisms of particle acceleration in binary star systems are reviewed: magnetic pumping; acceleration in circumstellar space by MHD waves; acceleration on shock waves generated in stellar flares; and acceleration in current sheets in circumstellar space. The contribution of the binary-star component to the total intensity of medium- and low-energy galactic cosmic rays is considered.
