The paper examines the preirradiation history of Djermaia chondritic breccia. Twelve light xenoliths studied in the two available stones show evidences of large preirradiation effects, and each of the two stones displays a specific xenolith population with distinct morphological and preirradiation characteristics. The first population consists of rounded and shocked xenoliths which show evidences of short solar-flare irradiation and a longer residence under heavier shielding. The second population does not show surface erosion or solar-flare effects, and its preirradiation occurred in deep-seated locations. The size distribution of xenoliths is different for two populations, indicative of more active reworking processes in the top of about 20 cm of the Djermaia regolith than at a depth of 50 cm. These results indicate the dynamics of the upper levels of the H-asteroid regolith which are in agreement with the model of Housen et al. (1979).
