We describe a method for calculating quantum statistical properties of hot ions in a plasma with the electrons treated beyond the independent particle approximation. The grand partition function, as well as other ensemble average quantities such as mean orbital occupancies and orbital occupation correlations, are given by exact integral expressions that can be evaluated by standard numerical techniques. Analytic approximations to the quadratures are obtained by employing a multi-variate Gaussian integration about the saddle point of the integrand. Illustrative numerical results are presented, and methods for estimating the error in computed quantities are discussed.
