Herbig Ae/Be Stars
Scientific paper
We used the far-infrared mapping capability of ISOPHOT to explore the circumstellar region of 5 Herbig Ae/Be stars. The brightness profiles derived at 60-100μm are consistent with a compact central source surrounded by arcminute scale extended emission. At λ>100μm none of the observed stars is compact, showing that the long wavelength emission is dominated by extended circumstellar envelopes or small dust clumps located in the vicinity of the stars.
