Rayleigh-Taylor convective overturn in collapsing stellar cores is
modeled with a one-dimensional parametrization. The results of a
numerical hydrodynamic study are very encouraging and indicate that such
an overturn could well be a dominant feature in the supernova explosion
mechanism.
