Diurnal and seasonal variations of meteor rates are determined from observations of the effects of meteoritic ionization on the field strengths of two 280-kHz radio navigation signals. Fadeouts or enhancements of the daytime JR and the nighttime CB signals with gradual growth and sudden recovery indicate a peak in meteor rates around 0600 LMT and a minimum around 1800, along with maximums in July and minimums in May. The patterns obtained are found to be in good agreement with those obtained by other means, however the rates measured are considerably lower, due to the fact that lf signals are affected only by meteors of greater mass.
