An examination is presented of a simplified model of fuel-optimal three-impulse transfer between elliptical orbits with a limit on the transfer time. The first and third impulses are apsidal in character, and the radial component of the velocity before the second impulse is equal to zero. A qualitative analysis of the optimal transfer characteristics is presented, and an algorithm for solving the optimal transfer problem is developed. A numerical-analytical method for the investigation of the simplified model is presented which gives an acceptable accuracy for long transfer time.
