A solar visual and photographic survey instrument has recently been constructed which can perform visual and photographic observations simultaneously. The instrument is a refractive telescope with two tubes - the chromospheric and the photospheric. In the main optical path of the chrmospheric tube, there is a polarization-interference filter composed of ten sets of birefringent crystals and four sets made for a wide field. Measures were adopted, so that testing observations at the factory showed that the better chromospheric pictures exceeded the highest level obtained by all of the present chromospheric telescopes in China. Some sample photographs and a schematic diagram of the telescope are presented.
