The paper presents observations of the 1720-MHz OH line from V1057 Cygni in the period 1973-1974. The line is composed of two circularly polarized components. The intensity of both components has decreased roughly exponentially with a time constant of 125 d and the separation of the two components has decreased from about 0.35 to less than 0.15 km/sec. If the line splitting has a Zeeman origin the magnetic field has decreased from about 3.0 to less than 1.3 mG. A possible model explaining this effect is discussed. The 1665 and 1667-MHz lines from the surrounding dust cloud were also detected.
