Scientific paper

Calculations of ionization equilibrium, thermal equilibrium and
radiative acceleration are presented for an optically thin gas with
normal abundances in the radiation field of a point source. The
influence of different spectral shapes is investigated and some
applications on QSO line spectra are outlined.
