A numerical method is presented which solves the line transfer problem in axisymmetric velocity fields and envelope geometries within the framework of the generalized Sobolev theory (i.e. non-local contributions to the radiation field are taken into account). As a first application, the role of rotation on YY Orionis line profiles is considered, using a kinematic model which combines rotation and collapse. One result of this investigation is that the line profiles calculated for the angular momentum values which are in rough agreement with the value expected from the differential galactic rotation do not qualitatively differ from profiles computed assuming radial collapse.
