Theoretical line profiles of hydrogen and Ca II are used for an analysis of the type II supernova 1969(l). Radiative transfer is calculated in the comoving frame by a multilevel NLTE approximation. Calculated P Cygni profiles are compared to scanner observations with spectral resolution of 80 A and 160 A. This comparison shows the need for high quality spectra for a detailed analysis of SN envelopes.
