A very deep image of the field of the quasar PKS0528-250 was obtained in an effort to detect Lyman-alpha emission from such a gas cloud and determine its size. The nearest of three candidate sources of Ly-alpha emission is confirmed by spectroscopy; hot stars are suggested to be the likely source of ionizing radiation. The other two candidates, which are of similar brightness and lie within 21 arcsec of the quasar, could be galaxies in a compact group.
