A possible process for the production of a baryon and antilepton excess at early stages in the expansion of a neutral hot universe is discussed in the framework of a unified gauge theory of strong, weak, and electromagnetic interactions. An analytical estimate of the baryon asymmetry of the universe is given, and it is shown that the numerical coefficient of the analytical expression may contain an additional small parameter. Some comments of relevance to a previously proposed 'multisheeted' model of the universe are made.
