We are reporting on new near-aphelion lightcurves of comet 2P/Encke taken with the Kitt Peak National Observatory 2.1m telescope from UT August 30 to September 4, and UT September 24 to 29, 2008, when the comet was at heliocentric distances of 4.01 AU to 4.05 AU. We will compare these lightcurves with those from previous apparitions to assess their similarities or changes. Our scientific goals are to search for secular changes in the comet's spin state and to understand this comet's historically anomalous photometric and activity behavior.
