Spectra of two faint stars (B approximately 19.6 mag) at the position of the old nova IM Nor 1920 indicate that neither object is a likely candidate for the nova remnant. It is suggested instead that either star could be: (1) a late-type companion of the nova, or (2) not physically associated with the nova. Spectrophotometry sets a limit to the post-outburst range of the nova of no less than 11.7 mag, approximately. The possible association of IM Nor with an X-ray source is no longer consistent with the improved position of the latter.
