Comet Encke is a gas-rich comet that is well known for its outgassing asymmetry, and we have modeled the distribution of C2 in its coma as observed during its 2003 apparition. From October 22-24, 2003, we used the 2.7 m telescope at the University of Texas McDonald Observatory to obtain long-slit spectra of several radical species, including C2. The slit was rotated through several position angles, allowing us to map the spatial distribution of the observed species. We have used vectorial model to reproduce the observed C2 distribution, assuming that C2H2 is the immediate parent species of C2. We discuss the results of these modeling efforts and the implications of the results.
