The interaction of solar flare protons and the material of the zodiacal dust cloud can produce observable gamma-ray lines and characteristic X-ray lines. Average interplanetary dust density, grain size, material density, and chemical composition may be determined by observation of X-rays and gamma rays together. Intense K-alpha lines due to the elements O, Mg, Si and Fe are expected to be key features of the interacting zodiacal dust and solar flare protons.
