The dependence of galaxy clustering on the cosmological density parameter (Omega) and the way in which this dependence is reflected in the two-point correlation function, xi(r), are examined by using the results of two conventional 1000-body calculations of cosmologically expanding systems. The models adopted are an Einstein-de Sitter (Omega = 1) and an open (Omega less than 1) universe for the case of Poisson initial conditions. The integral constraint of Groth and Peebles (1976) is applied to the models, and the relationship between the growth rates and shape of xi(r) is investigated. It is found that the shape of xi(r) depends on Omega, which qualitatively confirms the conclusions of Peebles (1974).
