The planetary nebula IC 418 has been observed with a Michelson interferometer in the spectral range from 0.86 to 1.7 microns with a resolution of 1.5 kaysers. An absolute flux is determined for the Paschen beta line of hydrogen and applied to the other lines detected in this spectral range. By using Paschen lines together with published Balmer line intensities, a reddening constant of 0.31 is derived. The electron temperature derived from forbidden S III is 7750 K. The tentative identification by Kovar et al. (1971) of the feature at 1.087 microns as Si I is discussed. The noise in the region of the unknown 1.698-micron emission feature is measured on the present spectra. It is found to be comparable to the intensity determined by Kovar et al. for the 1.698-micron feature.
