A model is proposed whereby the observed low-frequency drop-off in pulsar spectra is explained in terms of free-free absorption of emergent radiation by magnetospheric electrons. This model requires a specific frequency dependence of the level of radiation production. Observed spectra of PSR 0809, 0834, 1237, and 1933 are compared with theoretical spectra computed in the framework of the proposed model.
