The 2.0-m Faulkes Telescope-North on Haleakala, Maui, was used to obtain BVRi' CCD imaging of 9/P Tempel 1 sporadically between November 2004 and June 2005, and intensively during July 3rd - July 6th 2005. On July 4th observations of the comet occurred from the time of impact to 3.4 hours after impact. The 2.0-m Liverpool Telescope on La Palma was also used to observe the comet during the period July 2nd - July 9th 2005 (a fault prevented observations on July 4th). CCD imaging in BV'r'i'z' and near-IR imaging in JH was obtained. The resulting dataset gives a clear overview of the behavior of the comet before, during and after impact. We will present initial results from the data in terms of the evolution of brightness, colour and morphology at the time of the spacecraft encounter.
