The identification of spherical degrees and azimuthal orders of nonradial modes is an important task in the asteroseismic analysis of opacity driven pulsators. We performed mode identification based on phase differences and amplitude ratios between two photometric passbands for the δ Scuti stars IM Tau and AI CVn. In the case of IM Tau the mode identification puts strong constraints on asteroseismic models, whereas the constraints imposed by the identified modes in AI CVn are not strong enough to successfully model the pulsations.
